Butterfly Room –2 years to 5 years

Our Butterfly room employs qualified and experienced teachers and assistants who enable and encourage children to develop at their own pace towards ful-filling their potential. Staff are actively engaged in helping children’s emotional wellbeing which has a positive effect on their learning capabilities.

The room has corners for construction, small world, small gym, shop, mark-making, reading, ICT, problem solving and numeracy and an area to rest.

Our messy room offers sand, water, paint, creative activities and malleable mate-rials such as play dough, ‘gloop’, shaving foam and many more to stimulate children’s senses. We also have a home corner which children can use for pretend play and to express themselves as well as being imaginative.

The children are actively encouraged to make their own choices, decisions and learn through experiments.

Routines and structure play an important part in the development of our pre-schoolers and as such we use a Key Person system meaning one member of staff is allocated particular children. The key person will keep a record of children’s progress and developmental needs and have a one-to-one weekly session with children in literacy, numeracy and phonics making sure they are ready for the next steps. The key person will be your primary point of contact and they will liaise with you with regards to your child’s needs, any concerns you may have and to share their achievements both within the setting and at home. This also develops a good working partnership between parents and the nursery setting.

Each Butterfly room has access to both, outdoors and indoors activities that provide a wide range of experiences, based on each child’s interest and follows a carefully planned curriculum based on EYFS, Montessori and Reggio approaches. The messy play/sensorial areas allow children to develop their feelings and emotions.

Staff are regularly observing, evaluating and planning activities, to ensure each child’s individual needs are met.

A wide choice of extra-curricular opportunities such as Drama, Multi-sports teacher, Dance, Music and Spanish,  are also available.
